Country Medical Lead
Responsibilities

To Lead the Medical Team activites and ensure sound effective compliant communication of key products messages with comprehencive scientific engagement palns with HCOs and EEs.
To support & partner with marketing, sales market access and regulatory affairs departments in the scientific and medical issues with the aim to achieve the company’s objectives
To provide Medical leadership for the LOC, and overall accountability for Medical governance and all Medical Department activities in the country.
To demonstrate leadership and accountability for all scientific / external engagement activities conducted in the LOC, and to ensure these are in line with GSK standards and values.
To ensure the development and execution of Medical Affairs strategies and plans that are aligned with the business strategies for commercialization of medicines of value to our patients and customers.
To ensure that medical insights contribute effectively to the development of new medicines and vaccines, registration and launch of new products, design and execution of evidence generation activities, and appropriate communication of scientific evidence, ensuring at all times that the patients’ interests remain at the forefront of all activities conducted by the Medical Department.
To ensure there is an effective talent development and succession planning process in place for all key Medical roles in the LOC.

Key Responsibilities

To demonstrate strong Medical leadership and accountability for overall Medical governance within the LOC, and the management of all the Medical functions and execution of all medical activities.
To lead the Medical function in the provision of high quality Medical and Scientific strategic input and insights to the Pharma and Vaccine businesses and ensure successful creation & execution of the Medical Plans to the desired outcomes and timelines. Greater Product/Scientific expertise including product information, relevant guidelined and key publications related to the TA products to support credible external engagement.
Ensure implementation and execution of medical information service at the GSK expected standards
To embed the principles and practices of Scientific Engagement (SE) within the organization and drive the conceptualization and implementation of SE activities such as advisory boards and medical education programs. This includes Medical leadership in appropriate external engagement with key external experts, investigators, academia, government officials, media and other stakeholders under the respective governance frameworks, in order to develop, maintain, and enhance our reputation and trust with external stakeholders.
To lead the Medical Governance Committee (or equivalent), to actively contribute to the local RMCB, and local crisis management committee, to ensure that the highest standards of Medical Governance are practised within the LOC across all its functions and businesses. This also includes ensuring appropriate management and deployment of local Medical resources and capabilities (in collaboration with the GM) in order to adequately meet local governance expectations and internal/external standards.
Review and approve promotional materials/activites in accordance with local SOPs. Review and approve labelling of locally marketed products to ensure it reflects the latest safety data
Governance of specific functions – To ensure that appropriate processes are in place to meet the required standards while responding to Medical Information requests from local HCPs and customers. To ensure maintenance of an effective local Pharmacovigilance system and processes, to comply with local regulations and GSK global PV requirements.
To provide Medical support to Market Access, Pricing & reimbursement strategies. Provide input, and guidance into local HTA submissions and publications. This may include governance oversight of Health Economics & Outcomes research for local market access purposes, in partnership with other central functions such as PCPS and GHO.
To ensure appropriate medical governance oversight and risk management for all Clinical studies conducted in the country, and that subjects and patients are not placed at unnecessary risk from their participation in the same. For studies operated through local Clinical Operations, to ensure a focus on quality (in compliance with local regulations, GCP Guidelines and internal SOPs), and performance.

Basic qualifications

Medical degree
Post-graduation in any specialty
Minimum 10 years of Industry experience in a medical function, with 5 Years leadership experience of managing teams and different therapy areas
Strong Leadership experience
Excellent communication skills, with high ability to convey clear messages successfully to sales force/HCPs / Payors and SFDA / MoH.
To be the internal scientific expert to provide the appropriate efficacy & safety messages for the relevant medicines in the therapy area to external HCPs.
To present as the internal speaker at key scientific forums on the relevant therapy area topics.
Liaise with regulatory and government affairs functions in order to provide required medical / scientific updates or opinion to expedite registration or inclusion of medicines in formulary listing in key accounts or at government level.
To conduct advisory boards with top experts in relevant therapy area at a peer to peer level and gather both insights and lead advice seeking activities.
To train the sales force and equip them with the latest scientific knowledge so that they can be trusted partners to HCPs.
High level of problem solving as the dedicated expert for the assigned therapy area.
To act as a leader for addressing safety issues that may arise for a given medicine e.g., contamination of a product leading to product recall. Similarly, being able to provide a clear rationale for GSK new way of working to the experts who might perceive it as a cost cutting exercise.
Be able to present impactful at scientific forums and have confident conversations with HCPs, MoH and Payors about the new HCP Engagement Initiative.
Conduct training need analysis of the team of MSLs / Medical Advisors reporting to the role and mentor them to become content experts.
