Public Policy Associate, MENA

The successful candidate will combine a passion for technologys potential to create regional opportunity with knowledge of MENA political systems and digital economy development. Reporting to the Head of Public Policy for Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan, the Policy Assistant will support key public policy programs delivered in partnership with our global teams, act as an escalation point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, and support the Policy Head in delivering on the Public Policy teams regional strategy. The successful candidate will join a team dealing with some of the most interesting public policy challenges of our times including privacy, safety and security, freedom of expression, and the impact of technology of socio-economic development.

Responsibilities:

Complete a broad variety of administrative tasks to support the Head of Public Policy, including managing calendar of appointments, composing, preparing and following up on correspondences with internal and external stakeholders
Assist in monitoring technology, social media, digital economy, and socio-economic policy developments in the Middle East, and North Africa region
Support the team in increasing the use of Facebook by regional governments and civil society organizations
Support the team in implementing online safety, privacy, economic impact and other programs
Create collateral, presentations and materials to support the implementation of public policy programs and strategies
Support communications and relationship building with cross-functional teams

Mininum Qualifications:

3-5 years experience working in government, government relations for a multinational corporation, or in advocacy for international organization with a degree in a related field
An understanding and interest in regional political systems and public policies related to technology, social media, digital economy, and socio-economic development
Ability to build strong relationships and develop rapport with high-level stakeholders
Ability to drive and manage multiple projects and campaigns simultaneously
Dynamic, flexible, hard-working, and highly organized
Willingness to roll up sleeves and do the task required to get the job done
Ability to work with minimal supervision as well as collaborate in a team setting
Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic with superb writing skills (a writing test will be
