Job Introduction
BBC Arabic is a multi-platform department, providing news and information to audiences across the Arab world and beyond on TV, Radio and Online, 24 hours per day, seven days per week. We are currently seeking a Social Media Journalist to join our team based in London and to work across the range of its output. This role demands energy, creativity and flexibility, as well as a genuine passion for explaining the world to our audiences.
Role Responsibility
As a Social Media Journalist you will works as part of the social media team to ensure editorial content meets audience/user needs and be responsible for informing and contributing to the production of high quality and compelling content including AV, images, text, features and blogs for via social media, including on established and emerging platforms. You will have the opportunity to publish and moderate multimedia content to BBC Arabic’s main social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Google+.
You will be engaging with BBC Arabic audiences on social media by using variety of tools and techniques to engage with BBC Arabic with the aim of maximising reach and awareness of the BBC’s brand and output across different platforms. You will also have the opportunity to monitor social media trends in the Middle East and North Africa region and to engage with influential social media users within.
The Ideal Candidate
You will be fluent in both English and Arabic, with fluency in writing, reading and speaking. The successful candidate will have previous experience as a Journalist and will have a proven track record in demonstrating an excellent knowledge of developments in social media and related areas. You will have a clear understanding of the needs and profile of the target audience and the ability to translate these into imaginative and compelling content solutions, specifically with reference to social media. Strong web and computer literacy is essential for this role along with effective team-working and interpersonal skills. Comprehensive knowledge of regional and international news along with awareness of the growing importance of social media and the benefits and challenges it brings.
The maximum salary will be £35,000pa (including all allowances).
