First Microfinance Foundation Background
The Aga Khan Agency for Microfinance (AKAM) is a member of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) which is a group of development agencies, institutions and programs established by His Highness the Aga Khan. The common goal of these agencies is to combat problems of social and economic development and to help the poor achieve a level of self-reliance sufficient to plan their own livelihoods.

In 2005, the Aga Khan Agency for Microfinance (AKAM) established the First Microfinance Foundation Egypt to alleviate poverty and generate economic growth. As a locally-managed lending institution we aim to foster entrepreneurial activity, especially for women in underprivileged neighborhoods. Our operations are governed by principles of long-term sustainability and financial discipline. The Foundation extends credit mainly for income-generating loans to micro- and small-enterprises, but also provides social loans for housing rehabilitation, education, health care and family emergencies.

Job Title: Operation Officer

Job Scope:

Help in supervising branches activities. This includes loan portfolio management, risk assessment, and data analysis.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Regular reporting to the Operation Manager on key issues faced by branches and make recommendations to improve performance and solve problems.
2. Conduct independent review of client files, loan applications. This implies extensive visits to clients before and/or after the full repayment of loans.
3. Assess strengths and weaknesses of the portfolio, the quality of administrative processes and other organizational issues.
4. Asses the strengths and weaknesses of branch managers and loan officers.
5. Provide branches with recommendations and guidelines to address their weaknesses and leverage on their strengths.
6. Follow-up on the implementation of recommendations/guidelines issued by the Operation Manager and/or the Internal Audit Department and assesses their results.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor degree in a related field.
2 years of experience in a similar position.
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Excellent report writing in English and Arabic.
Ability to work in the field and communicate effectively with staff in the branches and the clients.
Excellent command of English.
