Description Mainly responsible for the need analysis and advising students on AUCs financial aid program, which includes multiple scholarship programs and institutional aid. Core duties include: o Reviewing aid applications, performing institutional need analysis, evaluating, analyzing and assisting in determining student awards. o Communicating with students/parents to request additional information and/or documents for incomplete applications. o Interviewing prospective and current students to determine need assessment and financial aid eligibility; then notify students of no shows for Financial Aid appointments to reschedule appointments. o Meeting and counseling students on financial aid policy and appealing to requests. o Maintaining student files to ensure proper financial aid documentation. o Identifying data discrepancies of the submitted financial aid applications and verifying the accuracy of the documents and consistency of data. o Participating in internal policy setting and policy documentation processes. o Assisting the Director in the key operation areas including technology initiatives, and overall enforcement of quality control measures within the office. o As a part of the financial aid team, supports and improves office operations and processes as needed. o Building up the online financial aid application in coordination with the IT team. o Updating the on line application as necessary o Testing the on-line application to ensure accuracy o Testing the formulas to ensure accuracy o Updating formulas every semester with the IT team when necessary
Qualifications Minimum education requirement: Bachelors Degree preferably in business administration, accounting or finance. Experience: Minimum of seven years of financial aid or relevant academic administrative experience is required Skills: o Excellent analytical abilities, written and oral communication skills, and advising skills. o Proven attention to detail, accuracy and ability to manage high volume of work under strict deadlines. o Demonstration of sound independent judgment in considering individual circumstances while complying with established guidelines. o Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Banner, and Banner Student Aid (BSA) web-based technology required. o Ability to interact effectively as a member of a team and work collaboratively with other departments. o Ability to listen to customers (e.g. students, staff, etc.) and to understand and respond positively to their requests.
